sunrise & sunset rays

A very unusual phenomenon in which the walls of a crater are breeched in such a way that a narrow shaft of sunlight is admitted at lunar sunrise or sunset and shines across the crater floor. They are a comparatively recent discovery. Examples include the craters Hesiodus, Burnham, Vogel and Halley.
